Henriëtte Coppes is a textile artist and is inspired by the work of the Zero artists. Not so much because of the new definition of art they have developed, but because of the minimalist, powerful and clear images that arose through experimenting with materials and techniques.
She thinks from the point of view of the material, usually textiles, but also uses other materials if necessary. The characteristic of the material is always leading.
Henriëtte embraces the imperfect, but she does within a clear structure. Characteristic of her work are lines and endless repetition. The square is a perfect, harmonious shape for her. A weave consists of lines (warp and weft) and forms a rectangle or a square. Lines in her work are sometimes made of textile, sometimes drawn or painted.
